Football: TRINIDAD defender Brent Sancho; GERMANY 2006 SCOTS GO TRINIMAD.

TRINIDAD defender Brent Sancho got his local TV newsreader to ask his girlfriend to marry him live on air last night during their defeat to England. Sancho, 29, who plays for Gillingham, asked BBC anchorman Geoff Clark to propose to Jana Herbert-Fiu on his behalf.

Geoff stunned Jana, 24, with the message in the 80th minute of the match as he interviewed her for BBC South East. Jana said: "I'll wait for him to come home." Three minutes later, Sancho allowed Peter Crouch to nod home England's first goal.
