Football: TOSH OFF TO FLYIN' START WITH RYAN; EURO 2008 CRUNCH NIGHT... Wales 3 San Marino 0.

WALES responded to John Toshack's roasting after their weekend defeat against Ireland with an easy victory.

But the manager will still have been disappointed his side only scored two goals from open play against the minnows who remain pointless in Group D.

Ryan Giggs netted the opener after just two minutes and 35 seconds but was followed only by a 20thminute strike from Gareth Bale and Jason Koumas' disputed penalty.

The boss said: "We had a few other chances and although it doesn't take away the disappointment of last Saturday, a win is a win."

Man of the match Koumas said: "It could have been six or seven but it was very comfortable out there.Ouraimwastogetquick goals, which we did, but we didn't really follow it up."

The first goal came when Koumas' quick pass reached the unmarked Giggs on the edge of the box and the Manchester United man strode forward to sidefoot past Aldo Simoncini.

More slack defending allowed Bale to fire in No.2 from 25 yards. Koumas, Giggs, James Collins and Craig Bellamy all had chances before the break.

Half-time sub David Cotterill and Bellamy went close before the Welsh netted again.

Simone Bacciocchi's body check on Cotterill looked on the line but referee Ararat Tchagharyan decided it was inside the box. Koumas' spot-kick was half stopped by the keeper but the West Brom man followed up to force it in.
