Football: Super salute as Roly looks to bow out.

EVERTON assistant manager Alan Irvine and exLiverpool star Ronnie Whelan were at Marine FC last night to pay tribute to the club's retiring manager Roly Howard - the world's longest serving club boss.

Record breaker Howard, who has run the Crosby non-league side for 33 years, enjoyed a testimonial dinner alongside longserving backroom colleagues Roger Patience and John Bradshaw, who are also leaving.

Howard leads Marine into their final UniBond Premier Division game tomorrow at home t o Frickley Athletic. His final match, his 1,975th, is next Wenesday against Everton in the Liverpool Senior Cup final.
