Football: Struggles continue for lowly Town; COCA-COLA LEAGUE TWO/NON-LEAGUE Bamber Bridge 2 Warrington Town 1.

Byline: BY BARRY THORPE

WARRINGTON TOWN'S defeat at the hands of Bamber Bridge leaves them seven points behind the third-bottom team Ossett Albion in the Uni-Bond First Division.

It was a unhappy debut for Warrington goalscorer Kevin Towey who signed from Witton on Thursday and came on as a late substitute.

The first half was a sloppy affair both sides were guilty of a poor performance but the deadlock was broken in the 37th minute when Town's keeper Richard Mottram palmed the ball to Tom Ince to slot home.

A number of chances fell to Bamber Bridge but Mottram made a string of fine saves to deny the home side extending their lead.

At the other end Town players Neil Sutch, Ben Kay and Michael Owen were all guilty of missing good chances to level the score before the introduction of Dean Jennings and Kevin Towey made a difference when they came on in this second half.

But three minutes from time, Bamber Bridge scored their second goal after the ball was not cleared allowing Alex Porter to steer the ball in.

Two minutes later Towey scored on his debut going round the keeper to score.

In a match which was always played at a high tempo, Town had two players sent-off and Bamber Bridge had one player dismissed late in injury time.
