Football: Spacey's spot-on.

DOUBLE Cup winners Arsenal Ladies won the inaugural AXA Challenge Trophy, defeating Premier League champions Everton 4-2 on penalties at Wembley before yesterday's Charity Shield.

Kelly Smith put Arsenal ahead after Rachel Yankey's superb cross in the ninth minute only for Everton to equalise with a top-quality opportunist effort three minutes later by Cathy Gore.

Arsenal's former England striker Marianna Spacey then squandered three chances to give her side an outright win.

But it was her fifth penalty which gave Arsenal victory after Faye White's spot-kick had been saved by Andrea Worrall.
