Football: Sligo prepare to pop Cork; SLIGO v CORK CITY.

SLIGO boss Sean Connor views tonight's clash with Cork as the biggest game of his career - and a pathway to Europe.

Faced with the prospect of winning and moving five points clear of Cork, Connor has both Setanta and UEFA Cup football in his sights.

Connor said: "People may wonder why I think this match is more important than the First Division title winning game last year.

"But my thinking is simple. Win this and we've got a great opportunity to put a significant gap between us and Cork.

"Now I know Cork are more than capable of closing such a gap but certain games in a season carry a greater relevance than others.

"And this is one. A win here would move us into third spot, give the players a huge boost and give the people of Sligo something to be very proud about."

Yet it won't be easy. While Cork have underachieved this season, scoring an embarrassingly low total of 16 league goals in 19 games, they remain a good side.

And with John O'Flynn likely to start tonight, Dan Murray signing a new two-year-deal and Neale Fenn on the verge of joining him, morale has improved.
