Football: Slick City no jokers; Man City 2 Port Vale 1.

HEARD any good jokes about Manchester City recently? Ian Bishop doesn't think so.

The one-time laughing stocks of English football have left the comedians looking elsewhere for their ammunition.

And two-goal Bishop believes it will be a long time before rejuvenated City provide more one-liners, saying: "This is the start of something big."

The win leaves City sitting pretty in the promotion race, but the score does not do them justice.

Joe Royle's men could have had double figures before Vale sub Martin Foyle reduced the arrears.
