Football: Sky Blues head for USA.

THE Sky Blues will play two pre-season matches in the United States this summer, facing Portland Timbers in Oregon on July 8, before taking on the BYU Cougars in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 12.

Portland Timbers play in the USL First Division - an approximate equivalent to the Championship - while BYU, short for Brigham Young University, are a side in the USL's Premier Development League.

City boss Micky Adams said: "This fantastic opportunity has arisen through an old contact of mine and we're delighted to secure two games in the United States.

"Pre-season is arguably the most important time of the year and we're determined to get our preparation as right as we can. The games will provide us with a good challenge, while helping us to build up our fitness ahead of the new season."

CITY'S reserves travel to Barnet this afternoon to take on Arsenal.
