Football: REAL LURE ROBBEN; EXCLUSIVE.

Byline: By JOHN CROSS

REAL MADRID have made a last ditch attempt to sign Arjen Robben - in a move which will infuriate Chelsea.

Chelsea winger Robben, 23, is on the brink of signing a new pounds 80,000- a-week contract to keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2012.

But Real Madrid have approached Robben's representatives and sporting director Predrag Mijatovic is understood to have tried to set up a meeting with the Dutch winger's father Hans. Real are long-term admirers of Robben and made an approach for him earlier in the season when it looked as if he was on his way out of Chelsea.

But Robben has since patched up his relationship with manager Jose Mourinho and snubbed an offer from Bayern Munich. Spanish giants Real have a reputation for making illegal approaches.
