Football: Pardew fears we're losing British soul'.

WEST HAM manager Alan Pardew believes continuing examples of the non-English team Arsenal fielded in the Champions League this week are "losing the soul of British football".

The Gunners' goalless draw at home to Real Madrid saw them progress to the quarter-finals by virtue of their 1-0 first leg victory in Spain but the result was achieved without a single player from the home nations.

Pardew said: "I did see a headline saying Arsenal are flying the flag for Britain - and I wondered where that British involvement was. The foreign players and coaches have been fantastic, they have added massively to the game, but we are losing the soul of British football."
