Football: Off the cuffs.

A SPANISH club chief staged a bizarre off-the-cuff protest against unfairness last weekend.

Timoteo Bonel, president of CD Ablitense who play in the lower leagues, showed up with the side for their league match against title-chasing CD Izarra with only seven players.

Injuries and suspensions had left most of the squad unavailable so brassed-off Bonel handcuffed himself to a goalpost before the match and had to be cut free before the game could start.

It lasted just 17 minutes before an injury to an Ablitense player reduced them to six, one below the FIFA minimum.
