Football: Hunt: His huge test; BECK TO THE FUTURE: FABIO OPENS DOOR TO USA AS OLD REAL PALS BACK GOLDENBALLS TO SHINE.

DAVID Beckham has been warned he faces his biggest challenge as he attempts to crack the USA.

Former England midfielder Steve Hunt was among the first to try to convert the United States to real football.

He spent three seasons at New York Cosmos, playing alongside such greats as Franz Beckenbauer, Carlos Alberto, Johan Cruyff, Johan Neeskens and Pele.

Hunt, 50, said: "No one is going to change the American male who is an avid fan of American football, basketball or baseball.

"It's a bit like American football trying to take over here - no chance."
