Football: Harty's burst-up; ELGIN 1 STENHSMUIR 1.

MARTIN HARTY took the wind out of the visitors' sails at the weekend - and also the air out of the ball.

City's summer signing was thrilled to set up the opener for Philip Reid but the ball was left a little deflated after Harty's thunderous 50-50 clash with Robbie Henderson.

The 22-year-old added a striking role to his City CV on Saturday after previously starring in both defence and midfield.

And his presence proved a real menace to his former Stenny team-mates.

Harty said: 'There was plenty of full-blooded stuff going on.I think after my clash with Robbie the ball was actually burst.

'Willie McCulloch, their keeper, was complaining the ball was flat and I think they had to change it.

'It was a good 50-50 and, luckily, I won it fair and square because I was on a yellow card. But I'll never shirk out of those challenges when the ball's there for the winning.'

Harty finally capitalised on an error by Paul Murphy and delivered the ball for Reid to crack home from15 yards.

But the Warriors responded with a better spell towards the close of play.

Lee Collins hit his third goal of the season after 78 minutes, beating keeper Keiron Renton from12 yards.

City boss David Robertson said: 'A draw was a fair result as both teams had good chances. But we're now five points ahead in third place which can't be bad.'

Stenny co-boss Des McKeown said: 'The Elgin keeper was exceptional,I felt over the piece we had the better chances.'
