Football: Greg eyes big finish; BARCLAYS PREMIERSHIP THE RACE FOR UEFA CUP PLACES BLACKBURN v READING.

RUGBY-MAD Greg Halford is prepared to scrum down against Blackburn's bruisers in his bid to lead Reading to a UEFA Cup spot.

Royals full-back Halford, 22, played rugby before he took up football and now wants to kick Mark Hughes' Blackburn side into touch.

Halford (below) said: "Rugby was my first love. I started playing at four and carried it all the way through to senior school. But there seemed more opportunities in football.

"Blackburn always make it tough, especially at home, but we are ready to fight for our league position."
