Football: FORAN'S THE MAN FOR WELL.
SCOTT MCDONALD netted the 5,000th SPL goal as Motherwell bagged the points from a red-hot encounter.
The Aussie frontman gave his side a late lead before Callum Eliott wrapped it up seven minutes from time.
Motherwell bounced back in impressive style after being mauled 6-1 by Hibs the previous week.
But, with Russell Latapy pulling the strings, Falkirk were always dangerous and took the lead on 36 minutes.
Stephen O'Donnell won a challenge and, while the Fir Park men screamed for a foul, the Irish midfielder put through Athony Stokes for the on-loan Arsenal kid to net from a narrow angle.
But, in the dying seconds of the first-half, Kevin Twaddle handled in the box and referee Craig Thomson pointed to the spot. Richie Foran converted from 12 yards.
If Well's equaliser was contentious, their second goal wasn't stonewall either.
Just four minutes into the second period, the hosts were awarded another penalty. This time Patrick Cregg was judged to have fouled Keith Lasley and was booked for his trouble. Foran doubled his tally from the spot to give his side the lead.
Then, on 71 minutes, the first bit of real class saw Latapy volley home in style to make it 2-2.
But Motherwell rallied and McDonald fired his side's third goal on 75 minutes to snatch the lead. Three minutes later Stokes was sent off for a second booking.
Eliott, on loan from Hearts, wrapped up the points when his 16-yard strike cracked the underside of the bar and was ruled to have crossed the line on the way down.
Motherwell manager Maurice Malpas said: "We had a very positive response after last week's disappointment. I didn't have to do too much to motivate the lads after the Hibs game."
Falkirk boss John Hughes moaned: "We were second to almost every ball. I'd like to have seen my boys be a little more physical."
