Football: Euro 2004: I'D WALK OUT ON MADRID; Beleaguered Becks lives in fear.
UNDER-FIRE David Beckham has revealed he may quit Real Madrid because of fears for his family.
The England captain, made a scapegoat for his country's Euro 2004 exit, admitted the pressure of life in Spain was getting to him in an astonishing interview.
And he insists he will walk away from the Bernabeu if he has to endure much more.
Becks said: 'Three or four cars follow me all the time even when I take my children to play in the park.
'I want them to enjoy their lives but at times this last year it has been intolerable.
'I could walk around with my family in Manchester with few problems.
'It just isn't possible in Madrid. I can't go out my front door without things going crazy and it takes so much energy out ofme. You must even plan how to make a trip to the supermarket without being photographed.'
Becks revealed his five-year-old son Brooklyn is due to start school in Spain this year but he would rethink his future in the country if his family suffered further hassle.
Real superstar Zinedine Zidane's children were targets for camera crews and paparazzi as they played in their school playground.
And Becks said: 'I will never put my children in that situation. I'm very protective and if that happens I'd have to take a long look at things.
'My family is No.1 and football is No.2 and that's the way it will always be.'
Beckham also revealed he won't walk away from the England set-up despite stinging criticism of his performances in Portugal. He said: 'I am man enough to come through.
'If critics want to write me off then I'll keep coming back at them until I've won.'
