Football: Boss in call to stars.

BARNSLEY'S players will be sent out against Tranmere Rovers at Oakwell tonight with boss Glyn Hodges warning: ``We cannot afford to relax now.''

The Yorkshire club have climbed out of the second division relegation zone thanks to an impressive run of only one defeat in 10, who took charge of team affairs on a caretaker basis.

But Hodges detected signs of his side taking it easy during the 2-2 draw at Wycombe Wanderers last Saturday. He said: ``I told them we could not afford to do that.We are still fighting for our lives and all the other results last weekend went against us.

``I am expecting a tough game from Tranmere because they have everything to fight for.The game will be played at a proper tempo.''

Hodges is on the lookout for a goalkeeper after allowing established number one Andy Marriott to join Birmingham City this month to help ease Barnsley's financialproblems.

Matt Ghent stepped out of the reserves to deputise last Saturday.Hodges said: ``We need a keeper to make sure we do not slip back in to trouble.

``But if we do not get one in time for the Tranmere game we will look to the weekend.

``I am not too worried because Matt deputised very well against Wycombe.''
