Football: Boss Francis on the brink.

TREVOR FRANCIS is set to be fired by Birmingham after the board finally lost their patience with the ex-England forward.

Despite winning 2-1 at Nottingham Forest yesterday, Steve Bruce is being lined up for a return to the club -as exclusively revealed in People Sport.

Crisis talks have taken place at St Andrews within the last few days and, despite support for Francis within the boardroom, the vote on his future is set to go narrowly against him.

Birmingham failed in the play-offs last season, losing to Barnsley in the semi-final, and Francis has been living on borrowed time since then.

We understand Francis has a maximum of one week to win over the doubters - or else the club will immediately go for Bruce.
