Football: Balde is broker in Falkirk's Ced deal; Exclusive.

Byline: By Keith Jackson

BOBO BALDE was locked in contract talks with Falkirk last night - on behalf of his former Toulouse team-mate Cedric Uras.

The Celtic stopper broke off from preparing for tomorrow's Old Firm showdown at Parkhead to help broker a deal for Uras with Bairns boss John Hughes.

A free agent who can be signed outwith the transfer window, defender Uras has been training with Falkirk for the last two weeks.

Balde set up the trial after fixing Uras up with a similar stint at Celtic. When Parkhead manager Gordon Strachan did not take his interest any further, Balde asked Hughes to take a look.

And last night Balde was called in to help negotiate a deal. Hughes said: "Having had a good look at Cedric we are confident he can do a job for us. That's why Bobo came in - to help with the discussions and language problems.

"It's because I have a good relationship with Bobo that we were offered the chance to have Cedric train with us.

"He's only 26, can play anywhere across the back, has a great attitude and a real sense of discipline about him. The deal is not done and dusted yet but we've made Cedric an offer and he is going to think about it over night."
