STAITHES held on for victory in a typical game of two halves.

During the first period they played Brotton off the pitch at times but only managed the one goal James Ward the scorer after a fine move. he second half saw Brotton gradually work their way into the game. They could have got the equaliser with two clear headers which both went just over the bar.

They then had a goal disallowed after an alleged push in the box as Staithes kept hold of their slender lead.
