Football: Ariel's washed up; World of FOOTBALL.

FOR a man who was the first to be labelled as the new Maradona tiny Argy striker Ariel Ortega is doing his best to live up to that billing - at least off the pitch.

The former Valencia, Sampdoria and Parma star is now receiving treatment for alcoholism back in his homeland where he now plays for River Plate.

Still only 32, Ortega admitted: "Football has taken a back seat."

Maradona's poison of choice was cocaine but the Argies sure know to press the self-destruct button.
