Byline: By Charles Wallace

ANDY RODGERS was in the right place to grab the late goal which gave Montrose victory in their last home game - then predicted better times ahead at Links Park.

He said:"The place got a lift when Jim Weir came in as boss and it is all about building for next season.

"We are laying a new artificial pitch and I hope it will help us to play better football."

AJohn Baird penalty in two minutes and a Rodgers strike in eight seemed to have Montrose on easy street but Stenny hit back.

Goals from Steven Desmond in 17 minutes and Gareth Hutchison in 24 pulled them level, only for Rodgers to net the winner three minutes from time.

Montrose boss Jim Weir said: "We won it in the end but the match showed there is a lot of work to be done.

"We must take some self-belief into next season and with a few fresh faces we want to hit the ground running."

Stenny boss Campbell Money said:"The same mistakes every week are killing us.These players have had their chance, changes will be made for next season."
