Football: ALBION'S SAD END; WBA 0 Millwall 2.

Byline: ADRIAN MILLEDGE

A BRILLIANT brace of goals from Irish striker Richard Sadlier shattered West Brom's bid to snatch second spot in the First Division last night.

The Dublin-born hitman took just 26 minutes to double his goal tally for the season and put Mark McGhee's Millwall in charge at The Hawthorns.

The Lions, beaten just once in their previous six league outings, opened the scoring in the 19th minute when the menacing Sadlier struck for the first time.

Veteran Steve Claridge fed Sean Dyche, who hooked the ball on to Sadlier, and the Irishman controlled it superbly before turning Icelandic defender Larus Sigurdsson and finding the target with a fierce right-footer.

Seven minutes later Sadlier pounced for a second time to make it a miserable evening for keeper Brian Jensen, who was playing his first game of the season for Albion.

Claridge charged into the box and then then crossed to David Livermore, who fired in a shot and Sadlier applied the final touch to direct the ball into the back of the net and claim his fourth goal of the season.
