Football: 15% plan an illness; YOUR WORLD CUP PAPER. JUSTI9 DAY5 TO GO!

FIFTEEN per cent of football fans are tempted to throw a sickie during the World Cup, a survey has revealed.

Nine per cent of supporters will definitely make up an illness or take their holidays.

And pubs are set for a rise in trade with 52 per cent watching matches there - 20 per cent more than the world average.

Dietmar Walter, of Global Market Institute, said: "Given this World Cup is in a friendly time zone, we'd expect less absenteeism, but many will still call in sick."

The poll of 800 UK fans as part of a global survey revealed 49 per cent tip Brazil to win. England were third with eight per cent. More than half of US fans did not know the Cup was in Germany.
