Foodie fads on the veg of reason Veganism - extremist vegetarianism - makes the rest of us feel impure, wicked and murderous just because we love roast beef and cheesecake.

Now everyone caters to silly vegan demands they must be looking for a new way to claim the moral high ground.

So what next for the food prudes? Perhaps Indian Jainism.

Jains won't eat root vegetables because when they're pulled up out of the ground, tiny organisms might die. And they use a small brush to sweep away insects before taking a step.

Some of them wear nose masks so that midges and fleas are saved from death in human nasal passages.

What fun it would be to watch the 'clean eating' purists getting into that regime.
