Fond farewell to The Sheriff; PEOPLE.

COUNCILLORS have turned out in force to thank their retiring clerk Alun Hodgson.

Mr Hodgson, known to councillors as The Sheriff was appointed to the post in Dinas Powys in 1994.

His first job was to organise the centenary celebrations that year, and he also oversaw the installation of new lighting and sound equipment which transformed the use of the parish hall.

Councillor Chris Williams said: "Alun has a heart of gold, and we will all miss him.

"Alun has played an important role in the council, keeping the finances in good order and trying to keep the community happy, not to mention the council itself.

"He is a well known figure around Dinas Powys.

"We know that Alun will be missed by the countless organisations which use the Parish and Lee Halls."
