MULTAN -- Foggy weather will persist by the end of current month of January, said metrological officials.
Talking to reporter here Wednesday, duty forecast officer Mohammad Foujdaar said that the visibility was recorded 800 metre to one kilometre in the morning. He said that intensity of foggy weather would start to reduce from the begining of February and the weather will change from mid of February.
He said that a wet spell was recorded during January, adding that low rains were expected during the recent winter season as compare to previous years.
Metrological officer further said that a rainy spell was also expected in next month of Febuary while sky would become clear from mid of February.
Assistant Director Agriculture (Extension) Naveed Asmat Kahloon said that foggy weather would augur well with wheat crop as its tillering capacity (A tiller is a stem produced by grass plants, and refers to all shoots that grow after the initial parent shoot grows from a seed. Tillers are segmented, each segment possessing its own two-part lea) would enhance during fog.
He said that such weather was not good for fodder, mango and vegetables as their growth stopped.
He urged the mango growers to irrigate the orchard to avoid the negative impact of the foggy weather.
