Focusing on cholesterol.

A cholesterol-lowering cheese product grabbed many admirers in Anuga's dairy hall.

The product, developed by Angel Technology, is not entirely new--it has been selling exclusively in Tesco at 1.79 [pounds sterling] for 200g kinder its own label with the strapline of a healthy alternative to cheese' since the beginning of the year.

However, the exclusivity deal with Tesco ends in under three months and a new brand, to be called Heartily Healthy, will be ready to sell in the UK and Europe early next year.

Tesco will continue to sell the cheese product under its own label but Angel Technology says it has formed a partnership with a major UK dairy to market and distribute it in the UK, while Singleton's Dairy will export it to Europe.

Stephen May, Angel Technology CEO, said the product would be going into some major multiples. It is made from milk which has had its dairy fat removed and replaced with a vegetable oil naturally high in phytosterols that combat high cholesterol.

May said there were two million people in the UK who could not eat standard cheese.
