Flying mannequins in Neihart, Montana.

* April 8. For the last five years, folks around Neihart have satisfied that basic urge to smash things by, well, sending mannequins (and other inanimate objects) on skis over a 15-foot jump at Showdown Ski Area's Mannequin Jumping event. From the lodge and the slopes, onlookers watch the sliding demise of various contraptions. Last year, standouts included a model snow groomer, complete with smoke and a motor's hum, and Lena, a blond mannequin in a sequined snowsuit who wind-milled her arms and screamed. Showdown is 63 miles south of Great Falls on U.S. 89. (406) 236-5522.
