Flower show ready to bloom; NEWS IN BRIEF.

AFTER shivering through Easter, hope springs eternal that the sun will shine on the annual Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Flower Show in Cardiff.

The show returns to the parklands of Cardiff Castle next week with lots to entertain the whole family - and under 16s have free entry!

The event, which starts next Friday and runs to Sunday, brings the best of the spring blooms to the city, and will feature blooms from nurseries across the country, show-gardens by designers from Wales and beyond and crafts and fine Welsh food stalls.

This will be the ninth RHS show in Cardiff, delivered though a partnership between Cardiff council and the Royal Horticultural Society.

Cabinet Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture, Councillor Huw Thomas said: "Over 20,000 people came to last year's show, and this April there is even more for the family to enjoy. We're hoping the weather will warm up in time, and visitors will come from far and wide to one of the best events in the Welsh calendar."
