Flour price up in, other items steady.

by Zarghona Salehi on 7 August, 2014 - 12:40 KABUL (Pajhwok): The price of flour increased, but rates of other commodities remained unchanged during the outgoing week in Kabul, market sources said on Thursday. Fazal Rahman, the Food Traders' Union head, said the rate of a 50-kiogram bag of Pakistani flour increased from 1,250afs to 1,270afs this week. He told Pajhwok Afghan News the surge was linked to soaring flour prices in Pakistan. A 50-kg bag of Pakistani sugar cost 1,800afs -- the same price as last week. The price of one kilogram of green tea remained unchanged at 180afs, African black tea at 210afs, a 5-kg tin of Momin ghee at 380afs and a 24-kilo bag of rice at 1,800afs. But a retailer in Dahan-i-Bagh area, Jan Mohammad, sold a 49-kg bag of flour for 1,450afs, a 50-kg sack of sugar for 2,000afs, a 24-kg bag of rice for 2,200afs and a 5-kg tin of Momin ghee for 470afs. He sold one kilogram of green tea for 260afs and the same quantity of African black tea for 280afs. As last week, one litre of petrol accounted for 63afs and the same quantity of diesel for 62afs, said Abdul Saboor, a filling station worker in Wazirabad locality. Liquefied gas also remained steady. A dealer in Taimani neighborhood, Mohammad Sharif, said one kilogram of gas continued to cost 65 afghanis. Abdul Baseer, a jeweler in Lycee Maryam area, put the price of one gram of Arabian gold at 2,100afs and the same quantity of the Iranian variety at 1,700afs, same as last week. Moneychanger Ahmad Shah said the buying rate of one US dollar was 56.30afs, while 1,000 Pakistani rupees accounted for 572afs.
