Flotronic Pumps Get Fruity.
Following a successful trial back in 1998, SIAS Foods (UK) Ltd, the manufacturers of fruit, confectionary and vegetable preparations, have recently installed two 2in. pumps from Flotronic Pumps Ltd, tel:0144 488 1871.The Good Food Pump is part of the 'One Nut' quick maintenance range of air-operated double diaphragm pumps from FPL. With 'Tool Free' integral T-bars, it only takes ten minutes to strip down and rebuild a pump, and it is designed for either quick-strip or CIP applications where hygiene design is critical. Manufactured from either 304 or 316 stainless steel with PTFE clastomers, with flowrates up to 600 litres a minute and temperatures up to 120[degrees]C, they are ideal for handling shear sensitive and delicate products with minimal damage.
At the Corby plant of SIAS Foods the Good Food Pump tranfers fruit pulp or fruit slurries containing particles of whole fruit from drums into intermediate vessels. From here the fruit is transferred to the processing lines and then packed into either 400 or 800 litre stainless steel tanks or 20 litre bags ready for shipment to their customers.
