Florentine strikers out to impress new gaffer.

COPPA ITALIA ESPN, from 5pm FIORENTINA have been short of goals recently - just five in their last eight Serie A matches - but they can rediscover their touch in front of goal against second-tier opponents Empoli in the Coppa Italia today, writes James Milton.

Only six teams are below the Florentine side in the Serie A table but their slow start has been largely down to poor away form and they look solid favourites at home this afternoon.

New manager Delio Rossi, who took over from Sinisa Mihajlovic earlier this month, must have been delighted to secure a 0-0 draw with champions Milan on Saturday and Fiorentina's only home defeat this season came against high-flying Lazio.

Rossi may be expected to field a strong side against Empoli as he gets to know his new squad and he has some talented players at his disposal.

Former Celtic keeper Artur Boruc was excellent against Milan while Italy internationals Riccardo Montolivo and Alberto Gilardinho are classy operators in midfield and attack respectively.

Opponents Empoli would be in the bottom four of Serie B were it not for Ascoli's ten-point deduction and it is hard to see them causing an upset. They have lost five of their seven away games this season and Paddy Power's 5-4 about Fiorentina winning at half-time and full-time is good value.

Cagliari are 6-5 to beat Siena in the second ESPN game, while Genoa, who have made a strong start in Serie A are 8-13 to see off second-division Bari.
