Floral art society elects new body unopposed.

ISLAMABAD -- Floral Art Society of Islamabad elected new office bearers for the next year unopposed in a meeting held here on Monday. According to results Samina Khan was elected president of the society who also rendered services on the same post last year, while Nasreen Amjad was elected as Vice President.

The other newly elected members included General Secretary, Shabana Bangash, Joint Secretary, Rukhsana Ali, Finance Secretary, Sobia Riaz, Information Secretary, Salma Kamal and committee member Naheed Amin Hashim.

Samina Khan informed that the society imparts floral art training, stage decoration with flowers, dry flower and fresh flower arrangements and methods of preserving plants among young girls and interested women who want to opt this skill professionally.

"We also hold training session in different college to introduce this skill and provide basic training to the students and apprise them with different ways of keeping flower arrangements fresh for long", Samina stated.

She also informed that the society also organises fund raising events regularly and the donation is used to facilitate needy patients at different hospitals suffering from diseases like cancer, kidney and other fatal ailments.

She appreciated the emerging interest of young girls in this art, adding that women empowerment is the only way for them to fight for their rights and live a respectable life in the society.

In the meeting newly elected office bearers Rukhsana Ali and Sobia Riaz also gave information on different plants including Dracena Varigata, Strelizia, Pittosporum, Ric Rac Cactus, Nephrolepsis Bostonia, Scheflera, Sanse Vieria, Ruscusn Liliacea, Ficus Benjamina, Cypras Altenifolus, Chlorophytum Comosum, Arecapalm, Aspidistra and Asparagus Plumosus.
