Flooding misery hits region.

HEAVY rain brought fresh flooding misery to parts of West Midlands yesterday.

Roads ran with water in Erdington and homes were hit in Sutton Coldfield but conditions were worse further north of the region.

Cannock and surrounding area was particularly hard hit, with a hole opening up in Martindale Lane, Heath Hayes.

A number of road closures and diversions were put in force, causing rush hour traffic delays.

Rock fans at the Download Festival in Castle Donington - headlined tonight by Brummies Black Sabbath - found the site turned into a muddy quagmire.

Thunder and lightning flashed above their heads as the first day of the supershow got underway.
