Flock to our great show!

A grumpy sheep is the star of the show at a Christmas concert with a twist at Great Ayton's Marwood Church of England School.

Residents are used to hearing the sound of bleating sheep in nearby fields. But none is as vocal as the one herded onto the parochial church hall stage by fellow pupils of the school.

Six-year-old Isobel Baxter takes on the title role of The Grumpy Sheep, which grumbles about having to walk to see baby Jesus while angels fly and the wise men ride on camels! The tale, performed today at 1.30pm and tomorrow at 6pm, is acted by four to six-year-olds from the Reception and Year One classes while Year Two play the music and narrate the story.

Music teacher and production organiser Vivienne Winterschladen said: "Isobel does extremely well in the title role and all the other pupils support her brilliantly."
