Flint Group announces European management changes.

Dr. Dirk Aulbert has been named the new president of Flint Group's European ink business. This position was previously held by Dr. Helmut Schmidt, who will be leaving the company after a transition period.

Dr. Aulbert was born in Damme, Germany, in 1967. After studying chemistry at the University of Munster, he joined BASF Printing Systems in 1996, where he held a number of positions in Germany, the UK and Spain. After the merger between Flint Ink and XSYS Print Solutions, he was appointed vice president and general manager of the European sheetfed division.

Dr. Frank Scherhag will become vice president and general manager of the European sheetfed division. He will also be responsible for the colored chips and resins business. Dr. Scherhag was born in Polch, Germany, in 1963 and studied chemistry in Wurzburg and at the University of California at Berkeley. Coming from BASF AG, he joined BASF Printing Systems in 1998, where he held several positions in the printing ink and pigments business. After the merger between Flint Ink and XSYS Print Solutions, he was named president of Flint Group Pigments & Resins.

Craig Foster has been named president of the pigments organization, which will now be called Flint Group Pigments to reflect the shift of the chips and resins business to the European organization. Mr. Foster has been serving as vice president and general manager of Flint Group Pigments & Resins and was previously vice president and general manager of CDR Pigments & Dispersions.

"Helmut Schmidt has led Gebr. Schmidt, Flint-Schmidt and the new Flint Group in Europe through years of rapid industry change, and his steadfast leadership has truly transformed this company and solidified our standing as a respected leader in Europe," said Dave Frescoln, CEO, Flint Group. "We are confident that Dirk Aulbert will continue to provide the vision and drive necessary to ensure that Flint Group in Europe builds on this strong foundation. His demonstrated leadership skills, and the unique talents he brings to this position, will continue to benefit our company."
