Flextronics to Acquire Telcom, Expands Business Unit.
Telcom is a global supplier of wireless network and RF consulting services for the wireless telecommunications industry and serves many of the largest carriers and equipment suppliers on a worldwide basis. The company's global operations have grown to more than 225 professionals with four regional operating units: North America; Latin America; Europe; the Middle East; Africa; India; and the Asia-Pacific region.
Flextronics Design, a business unit of Flextronics (Singapore) and a provider of operational services focused on delivering design, engineering, manufacturing and logistic solutions, has announced the acquisition of Instrumentation Engineering, Inc. (IE, Oakland, NJ), a systems test equipment developer and manufacturer. This acquisition will enhance Flextronics' capacity and capabilities in the functional test market.
IE develops automated test equipment (ATE) systems worldwide for the communications, consumer, automotive, medical and aerospace industries. The company has experience and in designing and building custom test systems for optical and wireless network equipment.
Ron Snyder, president of Flextronics Design, commented that, "We welcome IE's 200 plus employees in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and Milan, Italy to the Flextronics team."
IE will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Flextronics Design and will maintain its brand identity as Instrumentation Engineering, Inc. once the deal is complete. Ken Carroll will maintain his position as president of IE and will take on a global role within Flextronics' test operations worldwide.
