Flavour of success helps Tregaron firm expand. (Company Evolution).

A specialist food flavouring company has expanded its production facility in Tregaron, Ceredigion, creating eight new jobs thanks to the support from the Welsh Development Agency and Welsh Assembly Government.

Express Contract Drying Ltd is one of only a few companies in the UK that specialises in the spray drying of food flavourings and natural colourings that are widely used by food producers to flavour a wide range of products throughout the food and drinks industry.

Already working at full capacity, Owner and Managing Director David McDermott realised he would need to double the size of the company's production premises in order to grow.

With support from a WDA Property Development grant, an additional 300 sq m of floor space has been added to the existing 347 sq m which has also been refurbished as part of this expansion.

The company also received a Regional Selective Assistance grant from the Assembly Government to help fund the additional production, office and staff space linked to the project which has safeguarded six jobs and created eight new positions within the company.

Mr McDermott said: "We purchased the unit from Ceredigion County Council and realised that as orders increased we'd need to expand the facilities to cope. We've been working to full capacity on two 12 hour shifts, seven days a week and having additional production facilities will allow us to increase that capacity further."
