Fla. Woman Told To Cover Up Satanic T-Shirt.
A woman from Key West, Fla., who was flying to Las Vegas on Americans Airlines was told to cover up her T-shirt reading "HAIL SATAN" or get off the airplane.
Swati Runi Goyal, 49, said she was wearing the shirt as a joke, but a flight attendant insisted it was offensive and told her she had to change or cover it up.
"He said, 'Our crew has found your shirt to be offensive,'" Goyal told BuzzFeed News. "We initially just thought it was a joke. But he repeated the directive, and there was another female crew member who was behind him with her arms crossed looking very angry."
To avoid being ejected from the plane, Goyal borrowed a shirt from her husband and put that on. The incident happened Oct. 30 but came to light in early December after Goyal began tweeting about it. She had reached out to the company seeking an apology, but American Airlines initially put her off.
An American Airlines spokesperson, Ross Feinstein, told BuzzFeed that the airline was sorry about what happened.
"We apologize to Ms. Goyal for her experience, and we are reaching out to her to understand what occurred," Feinstein said.
