Five contracts awarded to small firms at Foley Sq.

Five contracts totalling $1,425,168 have been awarded to Small Disadvantaged Business contractors and suppliers to perform work on the U.S. Federal Courthouse at Foley Square in New York City, reports Lehrer McGovern Bovis (LMB), core and shell construction manager for the project.

This brings the total amount of Small Business/Small Disadvantaged contract awards to over $46 million.

Lee and Liang Construction Inc. of New York, New York, was awarded a temporary protection and rough carpentry subcontract for the Courthouse by Component Assembly Systems, a subcontractor to LMB. The work includes providing temporary safety protection for the ongoing construction work including perimeter netting, toe boards, temporary handrails and ladders as well as maintaining the construction fence.

Zwicker Electric Company, Inc., LMB'S subcontractor for the electrical work at the Courthouse, has recently given out four contracts for electrical installation work and electrical supply to small disadvantaged business contractors and suppliers.

These include Tom and Tom Electric for temporary electric work, which entails providing light and power for the various trades on the project. N & W Electrical Supply has been selected to supply the project with the electrical conduit, fittings and accessories. Topaz Electric Construction Company of NY was awarded the contract for the supply of trench header duet for electric power distribution. All three companies are from the local community.

Zwicker also awarded a subcontract to Brooklyn Electric of Brooklyn, NY, another disadvantaged business, for the supply of various items including electrical conduit, fittings and accessories.

LMB is construction manager for core and shell work for the Foley Square Courthouse, which is being developed for the U.S. General Services Administration by BPT Properties Foley Square, L.P., a partnership of Bechtel Investments Realty and The Park Tower Group.
