Five Omani Projects Win at the Gulf E-Government Awards.

Kuwait, Nov 13 (ONA)_ The Sultanate won five awards in the GCC E-Government Awards during the Gulf E-Government Award celebration which was held in Kuwait on the sidelines of the first Gulf E-Government Conference . The ' Cheques Scanning System ' of the Central Bank of Oman won the best e-service for business sector. Oman Educational Portal of the Education Ministry won the best e-portal in the field of development sectors. The ' e-bidding system ' of the Tender Board won the best government to government project. The Human Resources Management and Central Employment project of the Civil Service Ministry won the best Gulf e-projects in the category of the government to government project. The Higher Education Admission System of the Higher Education Admission Centre won the best Gulf e-project as the best e-portal in the development fields. 85 projects from the AGCC countries competed for the top places at the second Gulf E-Government Award. Dr. Salim bin Sultan al-Ruzaiqi, Executive President, Information Technology Authority (ITA) said that these achievements reflect the great effort made by the governmental organizations in collaboration with ITA to develop and constantly update the e-projects. He added that the continuous recognition for the e-government projects in the Gulf, Arab and international arenas clearly mirror the fact that the Sultanate's strategy to build e-Oman and e-government is moving forwards steadily. On his part, Dr. Badr al-Manthri, Information Security Officer at Information Security Centre of the ITA and member of the jury panel said that the award aims at encouraging the governmental organizations at the AGCC countries to use IT in governmental fields to ensure easier, more transparent and cost effect services for the government and beneficiaries of its services. He also pointed out that the award categories include the best e-service, the best e-content, and the best government to government project, the best official e-portal for the country and the best e-portal in the field of development sectors. ----Ends/ MS/FS
