Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police have arrested five Asians trying to smuggle 100kg of hashish and one million Captagon pills into the country.

The contraband was hidden in a boat trying to make it to the Dubai coastline. Lieutenant Colonel Tahir Al Dhaheri, head of the Anti-Narcotics Department of Abu Dhabi Police said his team acted on a tip off and dispatched his team who intercepted the boat before they could enter the coastline.

"I would like to thank the entire team for their well planned, joint effort. The perpetrators were trying to smuggle these drugs in and spread it across the youth in the country. This operation is a part of our continuous efforts to fight drugs," said Al Dhaheri.
