Five Ashanti SHSs to benefit from SEIP Funding.

Five Senior High Schools (SHSs) in the Ashanti Region are expected to benefit from the construction and rehabilitation of facilities under the Secondary Education Improvement Project (SEIP).

The beneficiary schools are Bompata Presbyterian SHS, Ofoase Secondary Technical, Nyinahin Catholic SHS, Mpasatia Senior High Technical School, and Kumasi Secondary Technical School (KSTS).

Nyinahin Catholic SHS, Ofoase Sec/Tech and the Mpasatia SHTS would have new six-unit classroom blocks constructed for them.

The boys and girls dormitories and the boy's dormitory Kumasi Improved Ventilation Pit (KVIP) at the Bompata Presby SHS would be rehabilitated under the package, as well as the construction of a new three-classroom block.

At the Kumasi Secondary Technical School (KSTS), an 18-unit classroom block, christened Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Block, would be rehabilitated, while a new three-unit classroom block would be built in addition to a six-seater water closet (WC) toilet with borehole and water support stand.

An official circular singed by Nii Lante Quarcoopome, a Director of the Ministry of Education, on behalf of the Minister of Education, stated that Messrs Daovtech Consultants had been appointed to supervise the contracts awarded to Asterion Construction for execution.

About 75 existing SHSs across the country are to benefit from the package being funded by the International Development Association (IDA), a member of the World Bank Group.

The credit facility is intended to aid development and reduce poverty in the beneficiary countries.
