Fitzgerald-led Lancers sprint by Lebanon.

CORRECTION (ran 4/23/04): Sheldon's Matt Fitzgerald won three events as the Irish boys' track team defeated Lebanon in a Midwestern League dual meet Wednesday. A headline in Thursday's sports section on Page E4 incorrectly identified Fitzgerald's team.

Matt Fitzgerald won three events, and Jeff Erb and Keith Best won two each as Sheldon dominated visiting Lebanon 99-46 in a Midwestern League boys track and field dual meet on Wednesday.

Fitzgerald won both hurdles races and the 200. Best won the long and triple jump, and Erb won the 100 and 800.

Michael Kehr (200 and 400 meters) and Brian Moore (triple and long jumps) picked up two wins each to lead Springfield past Churchill 75-69 in a dual meet hosted by the Lancers.

Junction City sprinter Shin Dong Woo led the way with victories in the 100 and 200 meters as the Tigers scored 83 points to win a three-team Sky-Em meet at Marist.

Girls track

Sheldon won 15 of 17 events while routing visiting Lebanon 123-22 in a Midwestern League meet.

Emmy Greatwood (discus and javelin), Amanda Bryant (100-meter hurdles and pole vault) and Kelsey Provo (100 and 200) won two events each for the Irish.

Kalen Swaggerty (shot put and discus) and Toma Starodubsteva (triple jump and 800) led Churchill as the Lancers won 11 events in an 88-49 win over Springfield.

Junction City's Emily Wintch won both hurdle events, and Lexi Allrandt was first in the shot put and discus, as the Tigers beat Marist and Creswell in a Sky-Em League meet.


John Keller allowed two hits while striking out 14 in six innings to lead North Eugene's 19-0 rout of Willamette in a Midwestern League game at Swede Johnson Stadium.

The Highlanders got a solo home run by Trevor Mael and three hits each by Andrew Stiltner, Danny Winterstein and Brian Peterson.


Denee Johnson went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and Ashley Likens struck out nine over six innings as North Eugene beat visiting Willamette 13-3 in a Midwestern League game.

Bobbi Corbett went 2-for-2 and doubled as Central Linn won 5-3 at Jefferson in a Trico League game.

Newport's Melissa Chipman was 2-for-3, but visiting Central pulled away for a 5-1 Val-Co League win.

Girls golf

Erica Omlid shot a team-low 94 for Thurston as the Colts finished third with a 409 score at a six-team invitational at Trysting Tree in Corvallis.

McKenzie's Ashley King finished fourth with an 89.
