Fitness fears for Saints trio.

ST JOHNSTONE could be without three top stars for their SPL opener against Motherwell.

Striker Andy Jackson has been ruled out of the August 15 clash while Peter MacDonald and Kevin Moon are struggling to be fit in time.

Saints boss Derek McInnes said: "Andy has had a scan and there is still swelling. He stayed at home along with Peaso and Mooner rather than travelling to Belfast with the squad.

"The best case scenario for Jacko is six to eight weeks. It's a bitter pill to swallow after his Achilles surgery last season."

Saints face Distillery tonight but MacDonald (hamstring) and Moon (pelvis) were ruled out of the Irish trip.
