Global Banking News - 11 September 2019

Fitch Ratings has opined that commercial banks in Qatar had improved their liquidity in the first half of the year.

The agency said that funding and liquidity were no longer key risks to Qatari banks in the first half of 2019. Better cost efficiency and lower impairment charges had helped banks to improve their financial standings, Fitch Ratings said.

The agency noted that asset quality metrics would remain under pressure in 2019. The firm also said that it is expecting higher loan impairment charges and continued loan restructuring.
