Fishy feet smoothing.

THE 'fish pedicure' is the latest spa treatment on offer to those troubled with hard skin on their feet.

It's as it sounds, a pedicure performed by fish that nibble away at the dead skin cells, leaving healthy tissue smooth and scale-free.

This miraculous feat is performed by garra rufa fish who are of Asian origin and have been used for centuries as a natural beauty aid.

Newly available at Linthwaite's Titanic Spa - pounds 12 for 10 minutes of toe-tickling treatment or pounds 25 for 25 minutes - the fish pedicure is being touted as the perfect way to get feet ready for summer sandals.

The garra rufa fish are also partial to body skin and are used in some continental spas to remove debris from skin conditions such as psoriasis.

Try it if you dare. The spa promises that the fish are toothless and harmless.
