Fishlock is recalled to Wales side for friendlies.

JESS Fishlock has been recalled for Wales Women's friendly doubleheader against Slovakia next week in Bangor.

The 82-times capped Seattle Reign striker was surprisingly omitted by new manager Jayne Ludlow for last month's Istria Cup in Croatia and Sophie Ingle was appointed team captain.

Ludlow said Fishlock had not been selected because she wanted to look at other players and the 28-year-old striker had accepted her reasons.

But Fishlock admitted her disappointment at being overlooked for the Croatia contest, insisting she wanted to be part of Wales' 2017 European Championship campaign. Ludlow said: "We are building towards our opening fixtures of the Euro 2017 qualifying campaign and the games will allow us another opportunity to develop an identity and a style of play that will bring success for us."

Fishlock lined up against many of her Wales team-mates recently as her on-loan side FFC Frankfurt knocked out Bristol Academy in the Champions League quarter-final. The Bundesliga giants beat the Vixens 12-0 over two legs and now face Brondby IV in the semi-finals.

Fishlock will now link up with the Dragonesses to play Slovakia at the Book People Stadium on April 6 and April 8.
