First-aid action heroes.

COMIC book characters will be flying into Leamington this weekend, when Batman and friends come to the rescue of the Red Cross.

Shoppers can have their photo taken with their favourite action hero as part of the third Royal Leamington Spa Sunday Special, with a gift market and children's rides in the town centre.

This month's focus will be on the work of the Red Cross, which will manage information stalls and host face-painting, competitions and a prize draw.

Kate Lee, Red Cross director, said: "The Red Cross gala day is an important opportunity to promote the work we do, give people the opportunity of taking part in activities which are aimed at improving their awareness of first aid, and help provide all those people who are out and about in the town centre on Sunday with a fun-filled experience."

The Fire Victim Support Service team will also be taking along its vehicle which provides a temporary home after fire, flood or other emergency.
